... Yusuf Islam was formerly known as the singer Cat Stevens and was one of the biggest selling artists of the '60s and '70s, writing such classics as Matthew & Son, Wild World and Father and Son. In 1977 he converted to Islam and has since dedicated much of his time to education and humanitarian relief. His charity, Small Kindness, provides aid as well as social and educational programmes to orphans and families throughout the world, including Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Indonesia.

In 2003, Yusuf Islam was awarded the World Social Award for his humanitarian work. More recently, in November 2004 he was honoured with the Man for Peace award by a committee of Nobel peace laureates.

Mr Islam's pioneering work in the field of education resulted in a landmark decision by the British government to certify and support Islamic education throughout the UK. He has founded three schools in the London borough of Brent, which perform consistently well in the borough’s league tables. He is closely linked with the Association of Muslim Schools and he is a supporter of initiatives between the Association and the University of Gloucestershire to provide Initial Teacher Training in Muslim schools."

Song....

Father
It's not time to make a change,
Just relax, take it easy.
You're still young, that's your fault,
There's so much you have to know.
Find a girl, settle down,
If you want you can marry.
Look at me, I am old, but I'm happy.

I was once like you are now, and I know that it's not easy,
To be calm when you've found something going on.
But take your time, think a lot,
Why, think of everything you've got.
For you will still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not.

Son
How can I try to explain, when I do he turns away again.
It's always been the same, same old story.
From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen.
Now there's a way and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.

Father
It's not time to make a change,
Just sit down, take it slowly.
You're still young, that's your fault,
There's so much you have to go through.
Find a girl, settle down,
if you want you can marry.
Look at me, I am old, but I'm happy.
(Son-- Away Away Away, I know I have to
Make this decision alone - no)
Son
All the times that I cried, keeping all the things I knew inside,
It's hard, but it's harder to ignore it.
If they were right, I'd agree, but it's them They know not me.
Now there's a way and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.
(Father-- Stay Stay Stay, Why must you go and
make this decision alone?)

Triassic
What you say about the residency is real. I don't want to upset any nationalities but women who are marrying for residency are starting to get knocked back. The trend is too ring the police, go to a womans refuge and almost instantly you get residency. I know a fella who this has happened to. He was sent to prison for a part of the sentence and later released when a decent lawyer hepled him out. His so called wife told the police he threatened her with a knife when he was drunk. He wasn't even home when it supposedly happened. Her sister had previously got away with this so passed it on. Anyhow the so called wife was later prosecuted for this.
You can understand why a statement has been made that there are innocent men in prison.
