I recall a one news special on men in early childhood - the government Minister concerned was contacted about imbalance.

The Minister was quick to acknowledge it as an issue, but assured that a new advertising campaign would be addressing it within a month or so.

The reporter noted the specific date given had by this point well past - but later a new advertising initiative was carried out.

The new initiation which would 'address the problem' featured one male in the imagery - being not more than 20% evident - ie out-numbered in imagery over 4:1.

However! Talk to people - overwhelmingly women - in the industry now and it seems, and outside of the political machine, there is a very great interest in having more men involved in early childhood education.

Some of this is simply lip-service, but while I'm male and have had opportunity to associate with quite a number of female teachers, I am quite certain that men are very much welcome.

How about affirmative action to get male teachers? Well, they already score high enough. Well how about more money? No. Can't give more money to males to teach, for women would not like that! Well what are we to do as the society gets worse? More social engineering I'm afraid. When something doesn't work try reprogramming them younger and taking more wealth out of the individual male's poacket. Then they will warm to being reprogrammed. Not!
