Mr Berg please get your facts straight

I would normally post this response in the comments section, but as Mr Berg believes his request for an official information act (OIA) application is worth two posts itself, it is appropriate I post this separately.
Mr Berg has been alleging that the Minister of Revenue, has been ‘deliberately withholding’ the information for his request.
“Today 4 October 2006, I asked Mr. Dunne if he is deliberately withholding this official information, and to explain why. Mr. Dunne’s behaviour is shameful, and reflects badly on his United Future Colleagues. I will also be asking his colleagues to explain their leader’s behaviour.”
You state that your application was received on the 7th of September.? On October 4th you were jumping up and down claiming it has been withheld.? But by my count, 20 working days after September 7 is October 5th, and so it would have been due to be released yesterday.
Before you start making accusations, it would be best if you informed yourself of the facts.? For example, OIA requests are given 20 working days to be processed; I assume you thought it was 20 calendar days.? IRD, I am advised, ? always releases? OIA information on the 20th day after application.
Finally, your email to United MPs is pointless – the distinction between parliamentary service and Ministerial is clear.? While acting as Minister, Mr Dunne ceases to be acting as a United MP, but as a Minister of the Crown.? Accordingly, United MPs do not interfere with the Minister’s work.
I hope you are now enjoying the information that you requested, as I assume it was given to you Yesterday as that would be the 20th day, as allowed for in the Official Information Act.
So Mr Berg, would you now admit that you were wrong about the Minister ‘deliberately withholding’ the info, and perhaps write an apology ‘press release’ like you apparently tried to do with your false accusatory statements?

Gordon Copeland, MP.

  1. Dear Mr Copeland,

Do not quibble over a mere day or two, rather, advise Dunne to respond quicker and accurately at initiation of a request and not leave the release of information to the final hour.
In respect of IRD Child Support perhaps you could advise why this same Organisation that Dunne fronts by virtue of his Portfolio has refused to supply me with a full reconcilition of my liable parent deductions for over a year.

You reveal more about United Future in this statement than you realise.

It is clear where UF stands.

  3. Dear Mr Copeland,

Thank you for identifying yourself, we are now aware who UF is. I suggest you take care to write more intelligently while on the internet, it will be here for a very long time, but I am happy to comment on your outburst.

An apology: frankly given the intelligence of what you have just written one would be more inclined to regard you as one, rather than offer you one.

Mr Dunne is the third minister before which this request has been placed. I did not have the information requested within 20 working days of “November 23, 2005” because Mr Dunne doesn’t withhold information or the IRD always responds within 20 working days. You can work that one out for yourself.

Finally, your email to United MPs is pointless – the distinction between parliamentary service and Ministerial is clear. While acting as Minister, Mr Dunne ceases to be acting as a United MP, but as a Minister of the Crown.

This makes it abundantly clear why voters should vote Republican at the next election not United Future.

I can thank you for making a fool of your self, saves me the trouble of posting it here for you. You might take a lesson from your deputy leader Judy Turner. She responded to a similar email telling me that she had an assurance my request would be replied to. The fact that I was supplied an updated version of the parliamentary question without the information I requested is another matter.

  4. Dear Republic Party,

    Do you like having enemies?

  5. Frankness,

    Somewhat out of context question.

If failure of successive Ministers of the Crown to deliver offical information as they are bound by Act of Parliament to do and being challenged over it is making an enemy thats a cute attempt at spin doctoring.

Reality is that Peter Dunne was handed a hospital pass by his “friends” in Labour. He accepted the hospital pass (Child Support Ammendment Bill (No 4)) and now UF is paying the price.

That price is about to ratchet up considerably as the sleeping giant awakens.

  6. I am not sure if you are suggesting that we are acquiring enemies, or aggravating our existing enemies. In either event we are obviously in firing range. Appear to have ruffled someone’s feathers.
