I have heard the
"Everyone in health agrees blokes are hugely difficult to get through the surgery door." line before.

It is usually part of an excuse not to provide services for men

Note that I had to REQUIRE my doctor to do the FUTB Test- I also had to change doctors, the previous doctor, a woman, refused to do the test.

Why the incessant publicity for women to get cervical smears, and breast examination, unless "Everyone in health agrees WOMEN are hugely difficult to get through the surgery door."

Don't blame the blokes- De-Feminize the Health service, provide the services, , provide the information.

I had the FUTB test yesterday. Not altogether pleasant but feel good about being safe as my dad,his brother and their father have all suffered from Prostrate Cancer. As I have said on here before NZ Men lack Selenium in their diet among many other things and desperately need to take supplements to repair this deficiency

The issue with Prostate is that the best test is finger up the bum. PSA (blood test) is a very sensitive test but it will give lots of false positives. That is the reason why public health don't advoicate it as a screening tool. The best screen is the drop the shorts, and bend over test.
Everyone in health agrees blokes are hugely difficult to get through the surgery door. More encouragement of that would be good for Mens Health. The PSA test isn't an alternative to visiting the Dr.

I required my doctor to carry out the prostate check recently- as part of a routine health checkup.
There was no pain, and minimal discomfort.
I have heard from several women that the mamography can be quite uncomfortable, even painful, as the breast is squashed between two plates.

I agree with the rest of your piece however, especially the publicity given to women's health checks, and lack of publicity for equivalent checks for men - You could even make the case that:-
'women must be too stupid to take care of their own health, that's why they need all this publicity is needed to get them to take these tests'
The truth is however, that the Government chooses to PATRONIZE the approved VICTIM groups, in the belief that this will benefit their own popularity.
