15 year old Hamilton false rape claim

The alleged abduction and sexual assault of a Hamilton schoolgirl was a false complaint, police say.

The 15-year-old girl told police she had been forced into a car and raped while walking home from school on Durham St, Nawton on February 27.

Detective sergeant Robbie Hermann of the Waikato CIB said investigators re-interviewed the girl this afternoon.

“As a result of enquiries made into the allegations a number of inconsistencies in the girl’s account were identified and when confronted with these the girl admitted to police that she had made up the story and that she had not been raped as she had earlier reported.”

He said the admission was frustrating as it wasted police resources that could be better utilised helping the victims of genuine incidents.

“Many hours work that could have been spent on investigating genuine cases of child abuse have effectively been lost,” he said.

“In addition to that partner agencies and the girl’s school had worked to ensure her needs were being taken care of.”

Hermann said publicly highlighting the incident had inflamed public apprehension and fear.

  1. From NZ Newswire March 20, 2012, 8:40 pm; http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/top-stories/13219190/girl-admits-to-false-rape-claim/

“At the end of the day this is still a young person in need of assistance and we would like to thank all those members of the public who gave of their time during the course of our investigation,” Det Sgt Hermann said.

But we don’t hear such understanding, helping attitudes when 15yo boys commit offences that place others at risk. And girls are said to mature faster than boys, so why aren’t boys of the same age shown even more understanding and tolerance than girls typically are? Because our society discriminates against males, that’s why.

And of course we get the standard “this detracts from the many real rape cases” line and a total absence of any acknowledgement that some poor bugger could easily have found himself prosecuted on circumstantial evidence because he happened to be in the area, or been fitted out by the police for the purpose. And of course a total absence of any acknowledgement that such cases are quite common and quite a big problem. Or any acknowledgement that every such false allegation fuels anti-male sexism and hatred that further destabilizes our society.

I note also that as soon as this news came out another rape allegation was published, again describing alleged events as if they were undisputably factual even though the claimed witness and rescuer had not been identified. I’m not saying the allegations were not factual, and I offer sympathy and support to the woman if her allegations are true, but I’m simply saying that it seems irresponsible to report such allegations as fact before they have been established as such. Why do police and media do this? To damage the reputation of men as a group as quickly as possible whenever there is the slightest basis for doing so, that’s why.

  2. Nothing appears to have been done to support the boys involved + their families. The focus is on the (False) complainant! She has become the centre of attention. Has she achieved her goal? She can do this with no suggestion of consequences for her. I believe the victim (Male) of these false rape complaints deserves assistance, reparation for their, and their families legal costs. Maybe this will discourage false complaints.

  3. I think in the case of rape, reparation of legal costs or wasting police resources does not nearly go far enough.
If a specific person is falsely accused of rape by a pretend victim then I believe this needs to be a serious criminal offence. In addition I believe that this is as serious as the current legal definition of rape. To be falsely accused of a sexual violence offense is to have your life ruined. The falsely accused may be eventually proved innocent but by that stage his life as been violated. There is a very real human cost.

  4. I fully agree Vman. The cost can lead to being bared from certain areas of employment (e.g. School teacher) Consequences which not only destroy a man’s reputation, but his income, can trigger CYF to remove his children, subsequently break marriages. The only way to remove the stain is off to Australia! Horrific consequences for a little girl seeking attention.

  5. Most of the false accusers are “men of straw”, to use the legal cliche. Thus awarding financial costs against them can go no further than bankruptcy. I have read one such judgement, where $80,000 was awarded, but was never going to be paid. Perhaps making sure that false accusers have their names and addresses published, with similar prominency to the original complaint and accused’s details.

If we don’t address this problem, then the long term result will only be that nobody takes rape accusations seriously and we will have gone full circle.

We should be looking more carefully at issues around men and boys as complainants, in terms of child support rapes, drug or manipulation by employment or other power. If we cannot get suitable legal redress, we should be pursuing cutting off parts of the perpetrator?

  6. Even Bankruptcy carries a stigma for some years and virtually precludes credit. The trick is file the order with baycorp to collect as soon as it is in your hands. There are a few other little tricks.

  8. I totally agree Ford. I have been screamed at by a master manipulator, her friend tells me “Grow a pair!” Fess up. Acknowledge what you did. The problem is I keep asking what I am supposed to have said/done! The scary part is they are supposedly helping others!

  9. #8..we live in a world where men are supposed to agree and appease the women because if we dare to disagree thats deemed abusive too and then we are told we are in denial..i think men do need to grow a pair but not to admit to or take ownership of their bullshit but to tell women to fuck off with their shit

  10. Yeah right, let’s use foul language and mindless one-liners. That really helps.

Your comment raises a very valid opinion ‘Perhaps making sure that false accusers have their names and addresses published, with similar prominency to the original complaint and accused’s details.’

I was reading an article ‘Angry Harry’ website…There was a link to a american website called ‘Register-her.com’..

This was a very interesting website to read and to appraise…Basically it lists a lot of women whom have been convicted by the courts of the following …False rape allegation….Rape…Women pedophiles….Domestic assault…False Domestic assault allegation/s …etc..etc

It even lists bigoted feminists on there double standards….

What I have read so far,and this is just my humble opinion there is a major backlash happening in America by a lot very angry american men/fathers concerning American feminists women, and there so called feminist family court/ feminist government and the feminists agenda of punishing men and fathers even more ….

A idea I would like to bounce on here to all concerned…Should a type of ‘Register-her.com’ be started here in N.Z…?????

As Vman as pointed out ,and I totally concur with him… ‘The falsely accused may be eventually proved innocent but by that stage his life as been violated. There is a very real human cost.’

I, myself have personally experienced that ‘cost’ as well as my ex brother in law… Its a ‘cost’ that I wouldn’t wish on any decent human being, and I include women as well

    Kind regards to all…John Dutchie
