NEGLECT OF MEN REACHES A SUMMIT
In early March, Kelvin Davis, Labour, pulled out of hosting the 2nd Men’s Summit scheduled for the Grand Hall, Parliament. As organisers began approaching other Members of Parliament to host the event, the Speaker withdrew permission for the organisers to use the Grand Hall.
Gender politics can be a “hot potato” for politicians. The welfare of the male half of the population, their female friends and children can no longer be side-lined by political ignorance.
A suitable venue has been set for the same day, Thursday 6 April, at the Miramar Links Conference Centre, just across the road from Wellington Airport. The Men’s Summit will go ahead as planned. The event is FREE, but there is no free lunch. Morning, Afternoon Tea and Lunch will cost $40.00 per person, payable on arrival.
The Ministry of Men’s Affairs, a community group because successive governments have neglected the voice and welfare of New Zealand men and boys, is pleased to raise awareness and commitment to ‘Male Wellbeing and Gender Equality’, says spokesman Kerry Bevin.
The Ministry of Men’s Affairs notes that under ‘affirmative action’ for women the Ministry for Women has received well over $100 million over twenty years. No Ministry for Men is mooted. However, David Seymour, ACT, agrees one is needed.
According to Mr Bevin, growing concerns about male suicide, male rape, domestic violence, prostate cancer, work safety, media denigration, employment equity, matrimonial property, male teacher shortages, under achievement by boys, judicial activism, legal bias, discriminatory sentencing, father alienation, punitive Child Support and inter-generational harm.
Military under-resourcing emasculates our capability in deadly missions.
The disengagement of men in society is well explained in Helen Smith’s “Men on Strike”
“It is too easy to point the misogynist bone at males or dismiss the damage feminism does.”
“Is there an MP in the House who is NOT apologetic about being a man?” Mr Bevin asked.
Make welfare has become a priority, an Everest, to be knocked off,
“Time to vote pro-male,” he said.

  1. Should that be ‘male welfare’ not ‘make welfare’ 3rd line from the bottom?

  2. Congratulations on what you are putting together.
The hiccup over hosting must have felt like a kick in the guts, but it also clearly shows the need for what you are doing and the general need for support for men’s issues.
    Thank you MoMA.

  3. I think you have to be realistic Murray.

You can look back on this site, and it’s well documented and photographed, where others did the same, or similar, to no avail, in the 1999 and 2002 elections.

In 2005 Winston was going to be ‘a man for a change’.

What is not well understood is the changing relationship between the State, the Body Politic, and the populous, which has evolved further in the last decade.

As men, we are yet to come to terms with the reality that we are at war with our own ‘Deep State’ but we can’t see that, because the weapons are seldom conventional, and so the wounded are seen not as casualties, but as failures within society.

They in turn are not treated as casualties, because they are not defending the State but failing it, and are left as isolated targets for the State to feed on.

If old men have wise heads, then they must find new ways, because this door is painted on a concrete wall.

  4. Downunder – we are at war with a Corporation that requires DIVISION and CONFLICT to survive……..why else would such a system permit children to be harmed, and parents to be destroyed …and not one politician, not one member of justice, not one police officer or member of the medical fraternity ( psychologists included ) and no one in this social services industry – will speak out about this horror?

WHY – because they require the conflict for Business.

Can you imagine the harmony – if these conflicts were actually resolved and the flash points punished by the LAW.

Rather we saw Provocation removed as a defence = and family court conflict escalated as a result. This is also a tactic we see today – changing or removing laws, and removing protections which might actually help Citizens. Has anyone recently looked at the CRIMES ACT and seen how many CRIMES have been REPEALED……WHY you must ask.

We have as an example – Parental alienation – a known form of child abuse, a significant cause of conflict between parents – which is in direct breach of the Bill of Rights, and Human Rights and the UN Conventions on the care and protection of children – and yet NOT one person in authority will comment on this or seek to change this…………and see it stopped or at the least make it illegal.

This is the concern for everyone.

While this continues more children will be harmed and more parents will be destroyed – for profit and control by a few.

We law abiding Citizens are all required to conduct lawful business – yet these parasites have created a corrupted business – a RACKET = which preys on the weak, the vulnerable and those in distress for profit – and they most certainly DO NOT WANT THIS to END…………..

That perhaps answers the question as to why certain individuals in politics have been told to stay away from such an event.

Fathers are abused by this system as much as Women and of course Children the most.

  5. @Hornet

We have seen a rapid departure from our social lore. Any society has a corresponding financial model, and consequently ours is a mess.

We live with a continually unfolding ideology, changing laws, redefinition of language and social understanding.

We live in both a state of confusion, and a State of Confusion.

We live with competing forces, both individuals, and cliques, who are often unresteained and operate outside of the political body, and even the law.

As a consequence society’s casualties live in a state of grief.

As individuals we lose our relativity, our relationship with a norm, instead conflict becomes the norm.

Men are not at war with the financial corporation, there is no revolution, but the financial system is used as a weapon against some men, in that situation, you could blame the financial system.
