Why Just Dads? A background
Just Dads was started in August 1999 when an 'at home dad' figured that there was very little or nothing in the local or wider community where dads and their children could socialise in a supportive environment. As a parent dads play a vital role in family life no matter where they choose to spend their time be it in the home or out of it.
In today's society dads are now wanting to provide a more nurturing role in bringing up their children and wanting to spend more quality time with them. Massive amounts of time and money are spent on major research projects focussing on dads issues and their role as a contributing parent but very little is done about putting it into action.
This then is what Just Dads is all about. Putting the spirit and soul back into fatherhood in a way that will add value to dads, their children, their families, and ultimately back into the community which we all share.
Dads have a massive influence on their children; on their attitudes, values, beliefs, behaviours, and the boundaries that we set for them. 83% of everything our children will ever learn is learnt before they are old enough to go to school.
Aims and Objectives of Just Dads
- Be a self help group set up by dads for dads who are looking for and provide activities to do with their children in a social network.
- Improve the time that dads and their children spend together.
- Give support and assistance to dads and their children by way of group outings, workshops parenting courses barbeques weekend camps and other family activities based on the needs of our membership.
- Network with and share information with both dads and other groups within the community who support and can add value to our aims and objectives.
- Be available to all dads and their children of any age no matter what their financial, ethnic, cultural, educational, political, or religious background.
Membership Information
Membership of Just Dads is open to any adult person who who supports the Aims and Objectives of the organisation.
Your annual membership fee is $20.00 and entitles you to information on all upcoming Events and discounted costs on all of our outings, field trips etc. which incur costs.
