After previously meeting with men's groups in Dunedin, Christchurch and
Wellington, Chief Family Court Judge Mahony asked Warwick Pudney from Man Alive
to organise an opportunity to discuss possible reforms in Auckland.

Attendees were greeted by protestors, as the Union of Fathers and the Separated Father's Support Trust decided to boycott the meeting. Angry fathers on the megaphone were heard outside throughout the evening.
