Why Wait Till Next Year?
Telecom have announced that they will be making a web-site available next week where you can vote for your preferred charity. They will donate $250,000 to each of the top four. (Announcement here).
If we all settle on one charity only, this is a good opportunity to profile the depth of feeling on men’s issues.
If you care to post a comment nominating a charity or affirming one that someone has already made, I’ll keep this post updated with a tally for the next week.
I’ll start the ball rolling with a nomination for Paul Catton’s Men’s Refuge.
Nominee (Votes)
==================
Paul Catton’s Refuge (2)
I’ll support that, What is the formal name Paul?

Fortunately or otherwise, The East Auckland Refuge for Men and Families would not qualify as I am not a registered charitable organization.
The services provided come from heart and not an adherence to governmental regulations for being compliant as a registered charity.
Keeping books, Auditors etc…all detracts from providing service at this level.
Hence I have a living surplus of a few dollars (few, being the operative word) that I can assist people worse off than I.
We can all empathise the position that my clients face to some degree, a lot of us had an avenue to avail help and assistance through our own resourcefulness or initiative.
Regrettably these clients need this type of assistance and monetary value is the least of consideration.
I too could have been one of Viv’s statistical suicides.
I thank you for the consideration and am honoured by your thought.
However, might I suggest the nominations keep on coming as if, and it would be a big if, The East Auckland Refuge for Men and Families were to make the top four, it might provide a larger portion of egg on the face of the misandric movement.
East Auckland Refuge for Men and Families
Providing Emergency accommodation for men with their children to escape the abuse of Domestic Violence.
Providing advice and support in getting this Cycle of Abuse stopped.
Providing advocacy and assistance with Social Development Agencies.
Providing advocacy and assistance with Family Law.
The latest research conducted by the Victoria University, again, has reinforced the fact that men are similarly subject to being victim of Domestic Violence, figures indicate it is still at an equivalent rate of acts committed against women.
Established agencies are not in the position and do not give assistance to these Men with their Families as they only focus on male perpetrator /female victim practices.
The East Auckland Refuge is committed to addressing this problem and ensuring our men with their children are provided with a safe environment and have access to resources enabling situational remedy.
The Refuge is self funded, this is due to Ministry of Social Development and other Government Departments not wanting to recognise this issue facing men and their families, as it detracts from their policies and agenda for the provision of an almost unlimited funding of services for women.
Kindest Regards
Paul Catton
