Men are a significant minority of citizens in NZ. Due to fragmentation in the way that they perceive their interests, they don’t lobby effectively, to protect their own interests. This bill could have positive or negative effects on men’s influence on legislation and also on the supervision of the caughts.

The Government is considering making changes to the way that votes affect the selection of MPs for Parliament.

Men should also consider how well the interests of their children are being protected, in Government and in the caughts.

This bill provides for a referendum on a preferred voting system to be held with the next general election.

The bill is available for download from the `Related documents´ panel. Print copies can be ordered online from Bennetts Government Bookshops.

The committee requires 2 copies of each submission if made in writing. Those wishing to include any information of a private or personal nature in a submission should first discuss this with the clerk of the committee, as submissions are usually released to the public by the committee. Those wishing to appear before the committee to speak to their submissions should state this clearly and provide a daytime telephone contact number.
