Woman guilty of sending threats to herself
A Rotorua woman has admitted sending threatening texts to herself in a bid to get her former boyfriend into trouble.
Jacinta Maree Hammond, 23, used a pre-pay phone to send the texts to her phone and then a few weeks later told police they were from her estranged partner, the Rotorua Daily Post reported.
She pleaded guilty to charges of making a false statement to police and wilfully attempting to pervert the course of justice when she appeared in Rotorua District Court this week.
Judge Phillip Cooper remanded Hammond on bail for a pre-sentence report and sentencing on July 19.
So she pleads guilty, yet it takes the NZ justice system 2 months to sentence her? Whoops, forgot, Simon Powerless urging his troops to ensure the victim is further victimized by exercising judicious quantities of sloth, lethargy, inertia and indecision. Purely to demonstrate just how diligently our fine justice systems folks are working to bring a sense of fair play and deference to the poor wee perpetrator. Another jolly good show Simon.

A pre-sentence report will be written by a probation officer or such. It will most likely be an opportunity for a feminist or chivalrist justice wonk to give the judge some ‘mitigating’ factors which will see her sentence minimized.
Perverting the course of justice – ironic crime she chose!

Let’s not forget that for some reason, women get a lower sentance, or “let off” of thier crimes even if they were against a male.
There are no short-shorts in prison.

Here is a link to a story about a man who – according to Police – committed suicide.
Coroner questions suicide proof.
The coroner found his wife to be an unreliable witness and there was no clear evidence that the man had committed suicide.
Interesting is this final bit:
If the gender were reversed, I doubt Police would have been as gullible as they seem to have been with regards to accepting the “evidence”.
