Another Pussy Pass –
The most telling piece in the whole article The woman, whom the Otago Daily Times has decided not to name, could not be reached yesterday.
I wonder if the ODT’s stance would have been the same if it was a male teacher with a student.
This is a copy of the email that I have sent to Vaughan Elder, the attributed reporter to this article….It will be interesting to see if I get any sort of credible response:-
Vaughan,
Interesting article, but I also find the double standard of the press to be a real issue.
Why was the teacher not named?
If it was a male teacher with a female student, would the ODT have named them or not?
Is it not in the interest of the public to know who this teacher is, I have boys who finished school last year, and two years ago, and I would like to know if they have been at risk from this teacher?
But not naming the teacher, it throws a complete cloud over the whole female teaching staff at Kings, until Tuesday when I am sure the rest of the student body will figure out who it is, and report back to there parents.
Can you give me a good explanation as to why the teacher has not been named, she has admitted to the sexual abuse, and has resigned because of it…..so there is not question of her guilt, but for some reason the ODT has given her a free pass….again I ask the question if it was a male would they have been given the same consideration?

Modern day “Mrs Robinson” helping some young guy learn the ropes. How could that upset safety of students. Rector obviously a prude. ODT may not have been allowed to name if her employment disciplinary system included name suppression. Obviously if it was a male teacher he’d probably be facing rape charges. After all society would have us believe that male students are more likely to consent than females when in reality 90% of female students under 16 can’t wait to lose virginity and most do long before they reach age of consent.

There was a post on this site a couple of years back, where another female teacher was found to have had an inappropriate relationship with a student, in Wellington.
It had to be removed – by order of the coroner – after she committed suicide.
Still haven’t seen the release of the Coroner’s report on that one yet.

In other words she is a predator but she can still teach and the public can’t know her name.
Does anyone seriously believe a male teacher would get away with this?

Where is Work Safe when we need them? They should be taking a hard line on all female teachers who are not equipped with condoms when they enter a classroom. This must form part of their teaching kit.
Perhaps this teacher cannot be named because Womans Rufuge claim that: to do so would breach her privacy and identify the person in the nude photos thus causing her potential distress.
This young man is perhaps lucky not to be facing sexual abuse charges.
