Why is it considered that the low conviction rate for sexual offences is letting so many women down? Interesting Yvette Cooper only says woman.
Yvette Cooper must think the jury gets it wrong all of the time. Maybe she would like to change “beyond reasonable doubt” to something less like “possibly be guilty”.
Perhaps she would like to introduce a law where she can veto a 12 person jury and set things straight to match her own narrow personal beliefs.
The “possibly be guilty” system is already active because the courts allow his name to be published which wrecks him and his families’ life long before he has his day in court.
No matter how you ague it – men are way more vulnerable today than any woman. They go through far more trauma than any woman does. Suicide, loss of family, friends and job. Financial ruin is set to automatic on an allegation alone when name protection is void.
Men are very vulnerable. Would ladies like forms signed in triplicate with a witness before intercourse?. What about Lesbian sexual play does that count as rape? ladies can change their minds many years after intercourse and still “get at a man” by acting a part in front of a suitable counselor or psychologist later.
One hopes that the law remains unchanged ‘innocent until proven guilty”, the law that many men and not a few women have died for in so many wars. It is the innocent that usually suffer far more than the complainant in cases such as these.

It’s a bitch-hunt in action. Get a few of them together and they froth at the mouth, then go on a male-hunt-by-media.
Here is the critical point:
In the statistics from one year to the next the percentage of convictions reduced by 2.9% and when Big-Momma found out they started an investigation.
In their eyes the prosecution system has failed. What they want now is a persecution system to increase the percentage of convictions.
Nothing to do with the law, the criminal threshold, circumstances, the number of false complaints or that more very marginal cases turned up in court.
Let’s not forget that in the same year trainee barrister Rhiannon Brooker was responsible for ELEVEN (in numbers that’s 11) false comlpaints of rape because she didn’t want to sit her bar exam.
If the numbers had fallen the other way at plus 2.9 percent would they have been happy?

If the conviction rate is falling, then surely this makes it obvious that they are taking cases to court, that should not be going to court.
This suggests that funding for prosecutions could be reduced quite a bit, at least 2.9%, more realistically reduced by say 10%? This money could be put towards compensation for male victims of failed prosecutions?
Paperwork signed in triplicate is little protection anyway, as changing your mind afterwards subverts any amount of paperwork.
The only solution that I can see, is a mental health and stability, sexual health, legal competence to sign sexual consent, parenting skills test and detailed specification of the proposed sexual act, certificates of competence from previous partners, prenuptial agreement and post separation parenting plan.
Spontaneity might suffer a little, well maybe even that wouldn’t be lost with many women?
Beer with the mates starts to sound attractive by comparison.

Maybe we need to be convicting more women, for rape and for false allegations….
