Domestic Violence (Enhancing Safety) Bill
Men didn’t vote enough for a political party that would have spoken up against this bill in it’s first reading. But what does that mean?
2 things.
1. Political parties pro men have 3 years to get more men’s support for the next election.
2. The world has not ended yet. There is still work that can be done without political parties being pro men already. Other groups are playing the game too. Some had a better chance with labour but have not given up their goals because they didn’t get the political party they wanted in.
They lobby each politician in parliament today and put a tick against their name if they are in. They then go to work on the others who they do not have support from.
…………………
These are the details to the bill.
Domestic Violence (Enhancing Safety) Bill
This bill strenghens police powers, sentencing provision and bail conditions relating to domestic violence.
Member in charge: Hon Simon Power
Type of bill: Government

First reading: 16/12/08
Referred to: Justice and Electoral Committee

Report due: 15/6/09
We too have to get to work. I am hoping there is no argument against working for the next 3 years or how ever long you can give.
Do you want to help?
If you do then let’s brainstorm. What are our arguments and what can we do?
My imput…..
Figure out what to say. Can you give suggestions?
Write to politicians for support.
Write to lawyers for support.
Write to human rights.
Who else can we write to?
E-mails are not hard.
Oh, and we need to write submissions. We can help one another do this.
Wow Julie,
I’ve just downloaded the draft bill and read it in it’s entirety.
What a shocker! To think this got passed UNANIMOUSLY in it’s first reading in the house!
Welcome to a new day.
An Orwellian feminist dystopia where any woman need only turn on a few crocodile tears and the police will turn up and crush a man, arresting him on the spot for alleged assault.
Then the poor helpless sap will have to find bail money!
As if our divorce rate isn’t too high.
As if the ‘family’ court aren’t already without due process of trial and evidence wrongly convicting legions of men to periodic detention (anger management programs).
Personally given the bills unanimous support by ALL MPs in it’s first reading I am despondent about it being amended in any significant way.
Such a feeling arises as I also note that NO MEN’S GROUPS are listed in the draft alongside the names of those parties consulted which included the Miistry for Women’s Affairs who no doubt gave their ‘statistics’ and ‘advice’.
There’s also NO REFERENCE TO WHAT RESEARCH WAS USED TO BACK UP THE STATISTICS touted in the draft. It’s simply said to meet necessary criteria.
On that basis I must conclude it is clearly a stitch up job, brokered behind closed doors to further strengthen the vice-like grip of the domestic violence industry creating yet more family dissolution and social wreckage.
All power to you Julie in your fight against this, although I’m afraid your voice of reason will fall on too many deaf ears to be valued as it should.
The only question I have is why more Kiwis aren’t leaving NZ to take refuge in other countries where they can be safe from such state sponsored oppression?

I agree Skeptic. Why aren’t men leaving in the hundreds daily. They should be jumping off a sinking ship. They are expected to in the UK by Harmen who said, “Men will leave in droves” or something very similar.
I guess maybe the unknown is scary. Maybe you and some others overseas can help NZ men by sharing what the world outside of NZ is like and what sites they can e a part of to find women worthwhile and a safe haven.
