Sure kids have rights – illegal sex isn’t one of them
By ROSEMARY MCLEOD
The New Zealand Father and Child Society’s president – I’d never heard of this outfit – said young boys were full of testosterone and were unlikely to say no to young women. Philip Chapman said some of these girls were very sassy in a highly sexualised society.

Perhaps we could put our views to Rosemary via stuff feedback and also post them here as well, so we can see what the media does with our point of view. Mine below.
Before you start beating up on our young boys, just remember it was your bitch law that took their fathers away, took their role models away, took their authority figures away, and made an industry out of single outcome dispute resolution – Women’s day Women’s way. If it wasn’t for the public outcry the “women” in the last Government would have made sex between 12 – 16 year olds legal.
“All kinds of authority figures make it not only possible, but permissible, for under-age girls to do as they
please.” How about you go hold them to account, or are journalists, these days, only good for half a story.
I have a 15 year old daughter who I believe is a good person. She might make the odd mistake as teenagers do, but beyond that I am completely proud of her. But she is still a child and frankly I’m quite supportive of a law that deters 18 year old males wanting to sleep with her.
I was 18 years old once upon a time and haven’t forgotten how we all used to think getting boozed and getting our end away was top of the agenda and anyone elses feelings didnt really come into the equation. I don’t think things have changed dramatically amongst the youth of today.
I don’t recommend we declare open season on our daughters because a disgruntled sector of society are at odds with the adult female community.

The adult female community, to which we refer says you should haven’t any say regarding your daughter. Society becomes a contradiction if the right hand is writing the law for boys, and the left hand is playing Chinese whispers amongst the girls.

My God!
Thank God that girls could never pressure underage boys into sex, or that, where theres the two of them, it will only ever be the boy at fault!
Thank God girls don’t have sex drives until he day they turn 16! Thank god I mis-read all those Dolly maazines (which, regardless of the age-range they say they target, ARE read by under 10-year olds) that have endless articles on knowing when you’re ready to do ‘it’.
Thank God, yet again, here is another issue that clearly is a male problem.
Yes! Lock up your daughters! Girls don’t want to have fun!

Bugger.
But in essence it pointed out the double standard of the women recently convicted of a similar crime, conveniently omitted by Rosemary,
and the plight of bus drivers years down the track, made to suffer for their follies of youth.

I have 2 girlfriends that are sisters trying to keep one sisters teenage girls in school and of the streets at night. They just sneak out of the house.
CYFS has been called by the sisters but they only find fault with the mother.
Thier plight has become a plight for a group of us.
They are out of control.
One of the sisters wanted to lay charges on a boy for having sexual relations with one of the girls.
That did not happen because 2 of us know these girls like many others are lying about thier ages.
You may ask, “Where is the father” Well he is beside himself not knowing what to do.
I think that if fathers miss the middle years it is hard for them to cope in the later years.

You think the state will help you.
23 May 2004
New age of consent laws should be scrapped
National is calling on the Government to abandon its plan to legalise sexual conduct between children aged 12-16.

The state does not help the parents. CYFS is for the children. When they come of age but not yet 17 the children have the control.
The problem with alot of parenting is that parents tend to cruise when the children have started school till they get into high school.
These are the years we need to be installing values into them. They take in everything around them.
