Men’s rights sites blocked

If you ever get a chance to use any of the public library’s computers around New Zealand that are free for public use you will notice that you can research anything on women’s rights and have access to any site but men’s right’s sites are being blocked as inappropriate.

I wonder where else this is happening?

  1. This does not happen at Welington Public Library (yet), as I am accessing this site from there right now, as I do most lunchtimes.

    Which libraries do this?

    Please name and shame them!

  3. Thanks Julie,
Actually for an institution charged with the responsibility to provide information to the general public this goes beyond mere shaming.
It is in fact a dereliction of duty as well as interference with reasonable (peaceably conducted) civic dialogue.

Could a legal beagle here tell us if that is in fact ellegal too?
I wouldn’t be too surprised to find out that’s the case.

Anyway, heads should roll over this one.

  4. For the last few years – I have tried to put my free McKenzie friend service pamphlets in both ChCh public library and courthouse but they soon go missing . They tell me that the Ministry of Justice do not want anything to do with so called father rights activists . They don’t want to know about a heartbroken dad and his sad alienated daughters even though I showed them today – a email from my daughter that proves the huge amount of money spent destroying my credibility as a father was a waste of fing time .Game set match .No winners for kids and dad – lawyers & psycho’s made plenty !!!!How long can the system keep it’s head in the sand .I will not stop the challenge against such a corrupt system .

  5. Darryl,

This site is not blocked but there are heaps that are and I am stating as a fact that they are monitoring them from this site. Why, do I say this? Because, Intrepid has just recently sent us stuff from his site

http://www.honornetwork.com and it has just been blocked over the last week.

Go into men’s rights sites and try and click what other sites they offer.

Read the article that Bevan posted before this one. The femenist said they want to protect women from the internet and that is exactly what they are doing.

  6. um…is that discrimination?

    Who can block these sites?

    Can’t they be prosecuted?

  7. This is more than discrimination it is communism. I thought New Zealand was a democracy country where we believed in free speech and rights of others.

I am researching into who is responsible because it seems the councils are in charge of the computers but the blocking part looks like it might be contracted out. But then the councils look to be the first to block. As soon as I find out who is behind this I will let you know.

  8. I couldn’t see this problem at the Albany Library this afternoon. Has anyone elsewhere noticed anything?

  9. I am talking to Rebbecca (team leader for programs)who knows what is going on.

There is no screening going on but a mechanised filtering system run by datacom based in Auckland.

This is just on Waitakere Library. Discussion continues.
