Wayne Pruden’s walk to Wellington
I saw Wayne on the 6 o’clock news tonight leaving with his empty pram, to walk 600kms (approx) to Wellington. And inside his pram cover was the tent he may be staying in along the way. Those cold winter nights alongside Mt Ruapueha and nearby towns in winter with the snow. How brave he is.
And, I could hear him saying Good-bye to the Jim’s via the microphone of TV3 news.
So he will be finding a place to rest his weary head by now. I expect that the Jim’s will probably stay with him tonight.
Does any-one know what Wayne’s website is? (That is if it is up and going.)
Wayne’s site is here:

The Jim’s, Javan, Jeff Page and Kerry Bevin did not have the courage to join Wayne in his tent in the forrest a few k’s south of Cambridge.
We had a ball bothering Hamilton and Cambridge in support of Wayne’s efforts and I sure helped him gain many of the now several pages of signatures.

Jim,
You are certainly a leader in all this although you refuse to be.
I have been hearing people comment how much “men’s stuff” has been in the media lately.
And if you are out tomorrow, I WILL be joining you as Julio is picking me up. (I have no excuse, now.)
Are you keeping in Contact with Wayne each day?
This is the most amazing thing I can think of someone doing for parent’s rights regarding the FC. I would love to be updated daily on this site as I am sure others would also.
On another note, I found out that it is true for people who are on the DPB and turn 50 will not ever have to work as they are permanently on the DPB until the go onto a pension. (remember John was complaining about that at the meeting, you know, the Labour spy guy) He will never live that down, now.
I was really suprised to hear this is what people plan. In saying that, I also heard that was something National wanted to abolish.

At least the dumb arse corrupt feminazi influenced lunkhead cops hopefully won’t be able to hammer him with a $600 fine for dripping oil from his empty pram ??

Check out today’s mens news daily website.
Last night I sent Waynes weblink to them.
I suggest others do similar.
This one man hikoi coupled with Jim and company’s brave efforts has the potential to really push our agenda (no pun intended)
As Jim himself would say – Onwards.

I support Wayne whole-heartedly.
I hope everybody is getting everybody to sign the petition. I have a few pages filled with signatures. The lest we can do is ask who ever we can for support.

Just watched TVNZ’s “Tonight” programme and nominate Ian Sinclair for “Best News Presenter Of The Year”. Great coverage without the usual fawning to the Feminazi movement.Ross Dempsey is a legend. We all salute you,mate.Oh…..by the way,Judith..,I have a cap that fits you…,it has the word F***WIT stamped across it!!!!!!

I agree Mike. That was great coverage. Let’s see the FC get out of that. Even Australia’s courts agree.
If you want to e-mail Ian?

Thanks Jule, Let’s give them lot’s of encouragement to keep bringing the issue forward. I have emailed them as follows
Hi Ian Sinclair and the ‘Sunday’ team
Thank you so much for the programme about fathers and the family court. Your item brought a rare balance to the issue by showing fathers who have lost their children as more than just angry and bitter deadbeats, as we are often portrayed. You allowed us to be seen as ordinary human beings suffering a terrible grief. The dads you interviewed were brave and generous in revealing their grief too.
Might I suggest that for a future programme you consider investigating the long term effects on children of losing their fathers? There is an increasing amount of research on this subject, and as a counsellor of teenage boys, I can tell you that a great deal of the problems of today’s youth stem from the problem of fatherlessness.

I have an idea for the petition.
Why don’t we all drop off the petitions (for Wayne’s walk) at local shops. The shopkeepers can keep them at the counter and whoever walks in can sign them. (while we work)
When we have time we can pick them up and send them to the Wellington address Wayne has given.

I have seen petition forms on this site before but can’t seem to find them now. If anyone can help that would be great.

Hi all,
I am now at Wayne Furguson’s house in Sanson. I have tears welling in my eyes as your read your comments.
I cannot beleive the support I have recieved. I have been given fruit, water, beds for the night, sums of money, and even a large bible.
My 44 year old engine is running sweetly. My chassis and body work is also fine, but my running gear needs an overhaul. Basically, my feet are killing me. The first 3-4 ks in the morning and the last 5 or so ks at the end of the day are excruciating. Uphill walking is great becuase I can put some weight on the pushchair, but the downhill sections are very painful. It’s a good thing I am alone; my groans of pain remain private.
The pushchair is going well, although the tread would not pass a WOF inspection.
If all those passing motorists that have tooted or waved at me had stopped to sign the petition, I would have a staggering number of signatures now. It is acts like this which enable me to overcome the pain and keep up my 5km per hour pace, which seems faster uphill than down. The toots and waves are the best encouragement I could hope for.
Desert road; well I guess you all know how that was. From Turangi to Waiouru there is nowhere to sit, nowhere to rest and certainly nowhere to shelter. For this reason, I had no option but to walk continuously for 6 hours, two days in a row.
I pitched my tent on the side of the road at a point I figured was half way. I had awsome views of the mountain ranges, particularly as the sun went down. I climbed out of my sleeping bag several times to make sure I didn’t miss these spectacular views. For a time, it all seemed so sureal. Why was I here? Why would anyone be here? Then as I flipped my phone open to check the time and saw the wall paper image of my son, it all came clear again.
The next morning the landscape was white with frost, and I had to quickly shake off the ice and pack up before my fingers froze. It began to rain within half an hour of setting out, and continued to rain all day. This was leg of the journey I wanted to do alone, and even if noone else knew what I had done, it didn’t seem to matter. The way I see it, the Family Court is far colder and a far more inhospitable place. With the desert road challenge behind me, I can now focus more on gathering signatures, and listening to those that are brave enough to share thier stories.
Bless you all. Keep up the bothering. Keep up the pressure and keep up the letter writing. And please for those who have petition forms, keep up the good work.
Wayne Pruden

Hi Wayne,
I hope you get to read this before you leave in the morning.
What you are doing is incredible and a selfless act for others as you already have sorted out things regarding your adorable child.
What you are doing has motivated others to put themselves ‘out there’ and do something out of the ordinary to make a difference.
I don’t know whether you get to read the Herald or hear what’s on T.V but i can tell you it is alive on issues surrounding men and women and FC and orders and more.
Just do it and make it to Wellington!

Wayne
Please phone me as you get closer to Wgtn (04) 389-2291 (H) or 384-3540 (w) and date of arrival is known. Remember you cannot walk on the motorway into Wgtn therefore you will have to take the old Porirua Rd or come in via Tawa to Johnsonville then Khandallah and down Ngaio Gorge. Perhaps some men might like to join you in the walk and as you present the petition to Parliament. Who is doing your PR and setting up publicity into Wgtn? Please advise urgently as we believe that a DomPost feature writer may be interested. Hope the feet are bearing up and you are enjoying time with Tich and co. Regards, Craig

Dear Wayne,
By now you must be getting close to your destiny.
Today I have been knocking on doors for extra signatures. This has been my first experience of petitions and I want to share todays experience.
A lady told me she was visiting the snow and her daughter saw you walk past Pizza Hut in Taupo. “Look mum, there’s that man from TV” and they saw you again nearer the mountain.
A male teacher said he would sign it 1,000 times because he spent 6 years getting his little girl and that he is foreveer having to change his behaviour at school to protect himself.
I stopped at a shop where people were buying lotto tickets and males were just putting their fingers up so that I didn’t miss them out.
A house with about 10 young men all just barely over 18 were thrilled that a woman was sticking up for them. One said he had met you at court or something and that you stood for yourself. Maybe he had you confused with someone else but still you are their hero. They told me to tell you that.
Triassic will collect my petition papers on the way down and I will send the rest that I left at shops that I can’t even remember (where half of them are) and I will send them by mail. Anyhow thanx for sharing your journey with me.

Wayne has spent a comfortable night here. Has had a hearty b/fast and is now packing up ready to continue his walk. Is in great spirits and looking forward to his meeting on Parliment steps on Wednesday. Gained a lot of support from numerous locals at one of my favorite watering holes. He will be back with us on Wednesday night so you can contact him here on 04-9026085.

I hope someone has got a digital shot of Wayne, especially on the steps when he gets there. I can then send the shot to some of the links with the story. I’ll keep checking to see if the site is up, for it is still down.

Wayne has arrived back here tonight full of emotions from his presentation of the petition at Parliment. He is very tired and looking forward to an early night.
At his request his wesite has been taken down at present and he will be attending to this on his return.
He has asked that I convey his best wishes to you all and is looking forward to catching up with everyone over the next few days.
He will arrive back home at 4-40pm at the Airport. I hope that you may be there to meethim and congratulate him on his efforts.

I am looking to contact Wayne Pruden after reading about his campaign to highlight the downfall of the family court system and how it is much maligned and failing New Zealand families. Wayne do you have an email address? I fully support Wayne in his endeavour as I am suffering a similiar problem currently. Something desperately needs to be done to stop the desolution of Kiwi families by the family court in this supposedly democratic country. My husband and I are rapidly losing faith in court system through our experience. Maybe through Wayne and others we can set up a campaign to advocate mediation rather than court resolutions to family matters. Currently we are blowing all our money on lawyers and court crap and our hope is running out of regaining “parenting order” of our daughter. The family court does not favour mothers in my experience, or fathers. It is a racist, hostile, crappy old boys and girls network that has completely lost touch with parents. They seem to want to lump all parents under KAHUI etc label without any evidence or creedence. WHAT IS JUSTICE? Not the ******* Family court!!

Hi Heidi,
This is my post so I got an e-mail to say you commented. Yes Wayne is special for doing what he did. I continue to get pages of signatures even after he has fulfilled his mission (or statement)
I am sorry to hear what you are going through and I can understand because my ex-husband and I went through the same thing. Marriage didn’t last through it, unfortunately. I hope you put things in place to survive as a couple.
You should join in on this site for support. Many people here have been or are going through the same thing and can give support and instruction. It is also a good place to dump some of the frustration.
I will e-mail you Wayne’s e-mail address but I strongly suggest you join in the whole movement to make a difference. You and your husband will be welcomed as I have been.
