All the Parents Fault

Filed under: General — Downunder @ 9:27 am Tue 29th August 2017

This article appears in the NZ Herald and attributes blame for the current state of unruly youth to the parents.

It can’t go without a mention – whether you can be bothered reading the article is a different story.

    While the previous article Dead Men Walking is an overdue reflection on male suicide, what we might consider while reading this article;

    Will this be a catalyst to increased youth male suicide that will rapidly grow to replicate what has previously been reflected in the adult male suicide statistics.

    In other words, are we now making life so hard for teenage boys, in a similar manner to that suffered for decades by adult men, that suicide is considered an option.

    Will the next release of Coroner’s Statistics reflect this thinking?

    Well my full time stay at home dad days seem to be over.
    A few months ago a person who knows my skills etc etc came door knocking.
    Apparently Uni qualified engineers need teaching about the real world.
    Also will be helping reverse engineering a Chinese product and making a new one.
    Who would have thought that 20 years ago.
    So big changes for my 2 children especially for the youngest who has only experienced full time parenting.
    In summary for all the people who say the job of a stay at home parent is a hard job that deserves compensation, get real.
    I understand my partner has been slaving away to support us while I’ve had a holiday.
    The job is as an independent contractor so the pays great and with 2 lots of 2 weeks work confirmed.
    That is unlikely to be all I get but its a perfect re-entry into the workforce, good positive for my CV and a nice top up for my sad looking savings account.

    Good on you DJ Ward. Congratulations and best wishes.
