Workplace Deaths All Men
7 deaths in a 2 week period in NZ-all men.
And none of these jobs (forestry, construction, farming) have been adjudged as worthy of a payrise. The danger alone in these occupations warrants financial acknowledgement.
Yet when caregivers were compared to prison officers (another dangerous occupation) they were deemed as being discriminated against.
The logic (or lack thereof), and blatant disregard for male workers is appalling. It cannot be justified giving caregivers a raise when there are so many other worthy, indispensable, highly-skilled people oriented occupations that get squat!
Good point. And people may have noticed that news reports and even the paid advertisements by ‘Worksafe’ all studiously avoid mentioning that the workplace deaths are all or nearly all men. The Worksafe advertisements say they want workers to get home safely and show warm fuzzy scenarios of several MEN AND WOMEN coming home to excited children, as if the risk to females in typically female jobs is the same or comparable to that for males.
WHY this constant disrespect for men and deliberate misrepresentation of reality to hide men’s contribution, sacrifices and disadvantage?

Exactly right Man x Norton: I was just watching John Cleese stuff and I came across this item about “political correctness etc”. He makes some very good points. There is a quote in it – that when someone cannot manage their emotions, they set out to manage other’s behaviour. Its also about offense giving and taking. for me this is apropos to your point.
