The Mama’s and the Papa’s…ode to the family we were..
We are the Family, the Mama’s and the Papa’s and we want what is best for our Boy’s.
But like him our hands are tied and we have all cried, the many times we have been made to feel like we have committed grave crime,
Like him we have no voice, no choice in it all, never thinking for a moment our family could fall, into the kind of place where there is no space, to even crawl.
I am a lucky one, for as well as a son, I have a daughter who has two of her own, so you see at least I have two grandchildren I will always know, not the three I knew, just the two that remain.
What is highlighted so often is grandparents raising children because their mothers and fathers have both failed.
But in consideration of the child (so dear to Feminists) you don’t see any action because they are detached from their grandparents.

Are you bounching off the Sister Sledge song
‘We are family’ (which is a feminist girls song)
Or are you referring to something by the Mamas and the Pappas another music group?
It may need a little more detail for something outside of your immediate situation.

haha,,, fair enough, no I was refering to a group called ‘virtual grandparents’ which aparently applies to people like me who are having to adapt to the loss of our grandchildren via separations whereby a parent, usually the father loosing the right to reasonably continue a relationship with his kids , which then often leads to the nullifying of the rights of his parents as well.
Do you really think ‘we are family’ was feminist, I have six sisters, I thought it was about us.

Family has been redefined in many ways by feminists but I would certainly see the Sister Sledge song referring to the tribal group of women and their
“New Successes”.

I’ll compromise.
Yes, it’s a bit like whanau in that sense you see it in, where that word starts out at the basic family unit but might also mean other combinations of family.
But the lines also support the current feminist thinking.
But it was written in the 1970s so taking it at face value it is probably more innocent than it appears now.
