Paulette Main allegedly falsely claiming almost $450,000 from the Ministry of Justice’s Family Legal Advice Service.

The Serious Fraud Office has filed charges against former Bay of Plenty lawyer Paulette Main for allegedly falsely claiming almost $450,000 from the Ministry of Justice’s Family Legal Advice Service. Ms Main has entered not guilty pleas to all charges.

The trial call over date is 14 February 2024. Happy valentines for the 14th!!!!

It highlights just how lucrative it is to be a family court lawyer.

RNZ News link below reports 1500 false claims, 30 charges. Charges include obtaining by deception and two charges of obstructing an SFO investigation.

  1. One can only speculate then, how much is this happening.
    Somehow lawyers make simple things, take hours and hours.
    Yes they did good for the client, but they didn’t do the hours.
    A little bit there and a little bit here, who would ever know.
    Lucrative is a good description, just play the game and be good.
    If the lawyer worked hard, what is there day actually worth.
    Why by the look of things, are they worth more than everyone else.
    I guess if it’s that bad you need a lawyer, you’re in big trouble.
    You may be looking at a big loss, freedom kids and property gone.

    You pay a high price if you have no choice, if you have to get a lawyer.
    Lawyers could be a government job, with a living wage.
    There fixed the ripping us off, the taxpayers deserve better.
    Geez $450,000 is a lot, her services must be brilliant.
