Tax Free Volunteers.
Mr Dunne released a discussion document setting out options, including a possible initiative to recognise the work of volunteers by giving them a tax rebate as well.
The document suggests rewarding volunteers for their time by setting a nominal hourly rate which they could use to claim a tax rebate.
Here’s another great socialist idea.
Let’s gradually turn volunteers into state paid workers.
Brilliant!
Expand the state further at the taxpayers expense! Yes!
Hell, working until lunchtime before you start earning for yourself is so selfish after all! The government has soooooooooooo little taxpayers dosh to play with right now.
And make the ‘volunteers’ materially dependant so they’re more likely to tow the party line! Gosh the buggers might even vote for us.
Another special interest sector stitched up.
remember the old addage –
“He who pays the piper calls the tune”
Dunne has dragged his sad arse for 26 months getting the family commission (Whatever that is!) up and running whilst countless kids become fatherless, yet has time it seems to dream up this stupidity.

I wonder whether this is a good move. It will help put the people who don’t have agendas in the public. I can think of a few valuable people that might take a tax break instead of working all weekend.

Julie,
everyone has agendas. It’s like breathing. No agenda means no drive.

$100 each is 1/2 billion dollars.
Plus more subsidies.
Lower taxes, is less revenue.
More spending, less revenue.
The balance sheet can’t be looking good.
With inflation, spending using very low interest money printing, can’t last.
Who is left with the bill in the end.
It’s like a patient in hospital.
The doctors, giving emergency medicine.
The side effects are bad, long lasting.
And will need, new medicine to fix.
But the patient, is still living.
The bill for the care, will be in the mail.

Some change is better than no change.
https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/opinion/126726227/housing-density-gets-more-intensity
With the flick of a few pens, change.
From 2 to 3 stories, is a 50% gain.
Just like that.
Imagine if they got more creative.
And change land use at the towns boundary.
So modern high intensity farming, with high labour needs, can exist.
Like glass houses, even robot controlled, LED using tower buildings.
More jobs, and less distance to the table, or product for the food factory.
You can give the person the fish, and then have fish for the day.
Or give them a rod and line, and have fish every day.
The same with handouts of money.
Certainly $100 will feed a person for a day, even a week.
But then they have nothing.
Will you then have to give them more.
What of the houses being built.
And the people who live in them.
Paying for them, somehow.
So change can be very easy, for government.
A simple law, exempting land, from restrictions.
Allowing things, to happen.
Could it do the same for the creation of jobs.
So easy the swipe of a pen, to create houses.
