The NZ Herald this morning has shown the extent of its white knight complex as it gallops to rescue the honour of the Samoan woman in Australia accused of throwing her baby down a drain to kill it.

Apparently, she is

a loving auntie who adores children and appears entirely devoted to her family in Australia and Samoa.

and

she became increasingly clucky as her pregnancy progressed

and after she threw the baby down the drain she put pictures of herself on social media

posing and looking pretty in a dress but also experiencing post-natal tiredness

(poor tired thing), and a family friend said she

“loves children and is very good with children”

The Herald analysed the woman’s social media posts and concludes

the young woman’s life appears to revolve around her work friends, family and the church.

also telling us that

In a posting in March last year of herself with a young boy she says “happy 4th birthday to my son” and says “cant wait to c u again” and “miss u mate”

(What a wonderful loving mother she really is, except of course that she abandoned her son too…)

Apparently, someone from her church said

she “was trying to keep on top of things” while incarcerated in a Sydney jail

(well that’s heartening then), and also said she was

“very good around children and young people at the church”

and he also said

the father of the child was Samoan and had “perhaps moved away”

(Oh, of course, the Herald wants us to know that a man was really responsible for her violence.)

Have we ever seen such positive comments published about men who offend violently towards children?

No wonder the NZ Herald almost totally ignored the report released last week “The Other Side of Partner Violence: A Counter-Balancing Review of International Studies and New Zealand Reports on Intimate Partner Family Violence” while giving major publicity, as usual, to yet another femicentric report in this case the Glenn recommendations. The Glenn reports amount to a very poor work of vicious misandrist propaganda but horribly lacking in wisdom and academic integrity. Never mind, it’s clearly good enough for the Herald’s white knight crusade on behalf of women against men.
