Donation of Sperm as Seen by the Egg
Putting oneself into the position of another, is a challenge. Especially when the viewpoint is of children or babies, who are not well placed to verbalise their needs or desires.
Joanna Rose has written about Donor Insemnation, from the viewpoint of the child and says that insufficient consideration is given to this viewpoint, in our adult donor insemnation consumer society.
Please evaluate her work for yourself.
She raises many issues, which also apply to many other broken family issues, so her work should have a much wider readership than what the title would suggest.

If we look at sperm donation historically, in humans (and indeed the IVF industry); the primary reason was to help childless COUPLES, being one female and one male, to have children. These were committed and caring “future parents” who wanted their own offspring; but through either biological, genetic or accidental misfortune, were unable to conceive.
That was history; as with all frontier sciences; a few scum find a few other dastardly motivations to secure this science for financial or other “questionable” motives. They don’t care about the consequences and future of the child.
Sad when you consider there are so many men (and no doubt women too) who have lost access to their cherished and dearly loved kids through deliberate government and legislative intervention. Even sadder when there are others out there “just mixing up paint tins” to produce babies on a whim and at the desire of those who think it’s merely fashionable, and their right, to own one.

There was an Anderson programme, on TV2, about unscrupulous lawyers, selling IVF surrogated babies. What the surrogate accepted a reasonable payment for, the lawyers were upping the price up to x18. The FBI got onto them and they were prosecuted for wire-fraud and maybe a few other things too.
I often wonder whether legal workers (judges and lawyers) do more social damage, than drug running gangs? They don’t seem to appreciate the public attitude, to their greed and arrogance.

Murray (#2); thank you for the invitation to assist with navigating people through the family court system. I really am the wrong person to have on your team. Simply, I have not one iota of objectivity when it comes to dealing with bureau (c)rats; I would do your clients more harm than good.
I have to thank CYFS for my cynical view of anything NZ government. I did not believe that the NZ education system could churn out such large number of stupid people; but I was utterly wrong and the proof is in every CYFS office throughout the country. Proof positive there is indeed a role in government for rejects of any shape and size.
I am content with apathy when dealing with our banal bureaucracy and am happy to suffer in complete silence rather than confront the tsunami of idiots posited in the offices of the family court and CYFS.
To sum it up in the words of Pink Floyd – “The child has grown, the dream has gone, I have become comfortably numb.”

Dear Bruce, I hear what you are saying and I have seen what you are talking about, in the lives of others and in your own life too.
However, the reasons that you give, can also be seen as good reasons for moving forward with positive action. If you would care to give a small number of hours, then maybe I can show you this? Life is safer for each of us, if we can build positive, rather than be stunned and inactive, from the initiative of others, whom we don’t respect. This is a conversation in person, rather than for a website……
