Author Wants Stories About Fatherhood
My name is Bill Clarke.
I am writing a book about fatherhood and I want to interview dads. I am interested in hearing their STORIES – about their fathers, or their own story of “Dads in distress” or “Dads in success” in raising their children.
What I’m looking are funny, sad, real stories that show what you’ve learned, how you deal, and what works best for your kids and what they need.
The interview should take about 10-20 minutes. I will call on Skype. (If you’d like to do a group interview, that would be fun, too.)
The book is about fathers, how fatherhood is now and how it has changed, and any future trends we can see for dads.
Can you please share this interview request with anyone who might be willing to share what they have learned as a father?
Here are a few of the interview questions:
1. Tell me a story that shows what you learned from your father, and how do/did you use what you learned.
2. What is different – what have you learned that your father did not do?
3. Tell me a story to show what you learned that is specific to your situation (ie. Because my kid/spouse/partner/situation is ___, I do ___ and it helps with ___ in this way: ___). (Or: I have a 5-year old who does not eat vegetables, so I learned to put peanut butter on spinach and she eats it!)
About the author: I’m married. I have one daughter, 14. I’ve been teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for 19 years. I now want to write and start a business. I thought up the concept for this book when my daughter was 4. I’ve started it a couple times. Now my goal is to finish and publish it.
I grew up in New Jersey, and lived in Arlington, Virginia for the last 15 years.
I like to hike, swim and sail. We moved to Nicaragua last year. We have one year left. My goal is to finish and publish this year.
Please note: I cannot guarantee that an interview will make it into the book.
Thank you for your time.
