Union of Fathers
I really do think some people think this group never existed.
That’s about a third of the original team from around New Zealand with regional representatives from both North and South Islands that met in Wellington for the formal launch 20 years ago now in September 2001.
Most of the original members came from another existing fathers group somewhere around New Zealand.
This picture includes guest speaker Michael Green Australian QC and author of ‘Fathers After Divorce’.
I wasn’t 100% committed to men’s rights in 2001.
That didn’t happen for me until 2004.
Definitely an issue in my life, before then.
As I had rung talkback, on some issues.
I was very young, when I worked out, how sexually bigoted society is.
Today is an anniversary for me.
It’s hard to put a name on my experience.
That begun this time, last year.
Or an example, in real life, with other people.
Mankind’s recording of others having an experience.
Has helped greatly.
But what followed is a year of writing.
That begun, once I worked some things out.
I have said before, that I put science first.
There is only one, and if numbers exist as a result.
Was the topic, a year ago, today.
A year later, for men’s rights, much has changed.
My understanding, of the subject, has only grown.
As an analogy.
A couple go to a party.
The male becomes drunk and is misbehaving.
Becoming a nuisance, even offensive.
The woman’s had enough.
And slaps her partner in the face.
And tells him to stop being a dickhead.
Everyone at the party.
Does nothing.
My act of protest.
Identical.
