Radio NZ promotes Clementine Ford

It seems Radio NZ is happy to give their support to radical feminist and man hater Clementine Ford (http://antifeminismaustralia.com/clementine-ford-man-bashing-quotes/).
The RNZ discussion gives her free forum and unchallenged air time to promote her new man bashing book, and her feminist assertions that toxic masculinity is rife. It can be found at https://www.radionz.co.nz/national/programmes/afternoons/audio/2018653006/clementine-ford-on-the-continuing-battle-for-gender-equality
Anyone in media will know who this woman is and what man hating ideology she represents, so it clearly shows RNZ is fine with such misandrist views and promoting it to the unknowing general public.

  1. Unbeliveable!

However, the fault ultimately lies with parliament. I had a look at the Radio NZ charter.

    It does say:
“provide comprehensive, independent, accurate, impartial, and balanced regional, national, and international news and current affairs:”

However that only applies to news and current affairs. Ford is being interviewed as the author of a book. So potentially this skirts around the need to be “comprehensive, independent, accurate, impartial, and balanced “.
Otherwise Radio NZ would have to at least also interview someone who had a counter viewpoint.

If someone can draft a good complaint letter I would certainly like to tweak it and send in a copy.

You can make a formal complaint here:
    https://www.radionz.co.nz/about/formalcomplaints

You can make a complaint about something you heard on air here:
    https://www.radionz.co.nz/about/formalcomplaints/new?type=on_air
    – however that is only to complain if you think the Radio Code of Broadcasting Practice was breached.

In the long term a more effective way might be to get media commentators, social media channels and MPs to look at the left wing and anti-male bias of Radio New Zealand. This takes more time but may be more effective in the long term. more effective because once Radio New Zealand looses the support of a large section of the public then it’s funding is threatened.
At least it can mean the charter is amended to force Radio NZ to stop being so sexist.

  3. The book is called Toxic Masculinity but she’s not blaming men she’s blaming society.
