Press Release: Men’s Health Week
Men’s Free Health Check Focuses On Prevention
During Men’s Health Week, 10-16 June 2013, New Zealand men are being given the opportunity to take charge of their health by completing a simple What’s Your Score survey and taking a free Men’s Health Pit Stop Check at their local pharmacy.
Research reveals that every three hours one New Zealand man dies of a potentially preventable illness. A routine and regular health check up is all that is needed to take a positive step toward a preventative path. (more…)

Plight of Emotionally Neglected Children in NZ

Emotional neglect is a silent destroyer of lives, many, many lives. Most suffer is silence, sometimes under suicide gravestones, sometimes in psychiatric units doped or electrocuted to silence.

The early damage was done by failure to respond, to smile, to talk back as often as needed by the baby. Doesn’t sound dramatic, but the long term consequences are dramatic, if the connection can be seen at all.

Few want to tell their stories in public. Few understand their own situation and the drivers that caused it, so how could they complain even if they tried?
The most severe and hardest to cure layers of the problem, were laid down before they could talk and well before adult memories start to be laid down.

Yet more child support lunacy!

More than 10,000 parents have been saddled with debts to the Inland Revenue they were powerless to avoid, and one angry solo mum is calling for change.

As well as collecting tax, the IRD administers child support arrangements, which are a financial lifeline to single parents.

But one mother is facing a large debt as the IRD tries to claw back “overpayments” by her former partner – a debt she did nothing to incur and could not have prevented.

According to official figures 10,002 people were in a similar position as of April this year, paying back child support debts totaling $11.5 million.

I am not surprised at yet another example of child tax lunacy.

This type of scenario will be more prevalent with the introduction of the new complex formula.

The promised calculators fail to appear on the IRD website. The IT changes required to implement Dunne’s disaster are driven by date, not quality. Looks like a potential nova pay to me.

One law for all – except Peter Dunne

Those of you who are forced to pay child tax will know the mantra of the tax police, “you have to pay … it’s the law.” I am sure many of you are aware of the harsh measures Mr Dunne’s tax police use to insure you comply with the law.

Today saw NZ First walk out of Parliament over Dunne’s flouting of the legal requirement to have 500 eligible members.

If you pay child tax, you must comply to the law. If your the Minister of Revenue you don’t have to comply with the law . That is hypocrisy at its best.

As Winston Peters put it : “What you’ve got is a Speaker saying I’ll give this man six weeks… to comply or otherwise. That is simply third world banana republic type of decision making and we won’t accept it.”

One law for everyone – except Peter Dunne.

Gay marriage provides an even playing field.

Filed under: General — triassic @ 2:07 pm

Having been deprived of the pleasure of active fatherhood by the State I was pleased to see that I am now able to ensure a more secure opportunity of fathering a child into adulthood. All I need do is enter a marriage with another man and adopt. Should we ever part company and the matter of access go before a court I could then be sure that I would be treated as an equal parent. Feminist Training for legal worker$

Filed under: Domestic Violence,Gender Politics,Law & Courts,Sex Abuse / CYF — MurrayBacon @ 7:20 pm

I have heard comments about feminist training in Law School and feminist training supplied to newly appointed familycaught$ judges. I was sceptical that any such “training” could subvert human minds, as to completely undermine their ability to carry out their job competently and roughly fairly.

However, read the comments of a Canadian judge, who minimised the cold blooded murder of two young girls by their own mother: (more…)

“Remembering Those Killed on the Job?”

Filed under: Gender Politics,General,Men's Health — Ministry of Men's Affairs @ 3:02 pm

This article tells us that today is Workers Memorial Day to remember those killed and injured on the job. However, it seems that everyone involved takes great care to avoid mentioning that men make up the vast majority of such workers. Not once is the word ‘men’ even used. The 28 forestry ‘workers’ who have died since 2008 will all have been men. Why do people wish to deny and hide the contribution of men in our society? Avoiding mentioning they were men implies that gender equality applies to this issue. It doesn’t, but as is the case for all other matters in which men are disadvantaged, male disadvantage is denied and ignored. Rather than honouring the men who have sacrificed their lives or bodies in their jobs, for me this dishonest way of remembering them insults their memory.

Penalty plea over child cash

A huge nationwide Child Support debt made up mainly of penalties and interest has sparked claims by a Napier-based former MP that it is a “ruthless” scheme forcing people to shirk responsibilities to growing youngsters.

Latest figures show Child Support principal comprises just $661 million of the $2.617 billion the Inland Revenue Department claims it was owed at the end of December. Stuart Nash said it’s time for an amnesty on penalties and interest, which make up 74.7 per cent of the debt. (more…)
