Am I the only person NOT surprised to find that Adam Lanzra, who killed his mum and then killed 26 other victims (20 young children), experienced divorce 3 years ago, then moved to live with his mum that took him out from school for home-schooling. They were financially stable after the divorce, read the article it may give you a clue “why”!

I wish to mount a new challenge to the White Ribbon Campaign. I urge everyone here to copy and paste the letter below either into your email or to a printer, amend it if you wish, add your own details instead of the { } bits, then either send it or email it to the Human Rights Commission.

If you change the letter, please leave in a clear statement that you are or were offended by White Ribbon. I believe that if a reasonable number of people inform the HRC that they are offended by the campaign then the HRC has to accept it’s an offensive campaign.

I am highly offended by the campaign and its large poster that I frequently pass in my travels. Please email a copy of the letter to others, or print off a few copies of the letter (minus the { } bits) and ask men and women you know if they also would send one.

It would be great if people could mention here on MENZ Issues that they have sent or emailed their complaint, so we have an idea of how many complaints and notifications of offence the HRC has received.

Re: White Ribbon Campaign

I hereby formally complain about the White Ribbon Campaign.

I hereby inform you that I am offended by the White Ribbon Campaign, its slogans and posters calling for men to show they are against violence only towards women.

The White Ribbon Campaign discriminates on the basis of sex, stereotyping men as the only people who commit violence that deserves attention and discriminating against male victims of violence as not being worthy of consideration. Men are much more frequently the victims of violence in our society than women are, as shown for example by our Ministry of Health data concerning assault, homicide and attempted homicide (see: http://www.health.govt.nz/nz-health-statistics/health-statistics-and-data-sets/maori-health-data-and-stats/tatau-kahukura-maori-health-chart-book/nga-mana-hauora-tutohu-health-status-indicators/interpersonal-violence)

I strongly object to my taxes being used to support the White Ribbon Campaign. It is unacceptable that our Human Rights Commission and other government organisations would support a campaign that practises blatant discrimination on the basis of sex.

I look forward to your stance against the White Ribbon Campaign. I would support a campaign against violence that does not discriminate on the basis of sex/gender.

Story time children, time to analyze a few news stories from a men’s movement perspective. Once you start to do this it’s like enlightenment and you find you’re recognizing the broader reality in what you read. The stories covered here simply happen to be from this weekend’s news and there were more even in that pool that could have been included. If someone had time or could be funded for this, such analysis could be usefully done every single day because there are always examples from our news media of gender inequality and double standards disadvantaging men. However, the journalists seldom recognize the male gender implications of their stories and often come at the story from the still (but not for much longer) fashionable feminist “downtrodden women’ ideology. Yay! Domestic Violence is New Zealand’s growth industry! Women and children have a 25% chance of being injured, killed, assaulted or abducted in DV incidents in New Zealand! And that makes no mention whatsoever of victims who do not suffer one of these golden four physical violances – those that have no injuries etc.

Addressing a meeting of MPs and staff in Parliament last week on child poverty, Professor Jonathan Boston noticed that he was the only man in the room. Boston is co-chairman of the Children’s Commissioner’s advisory group on solutions to child poverty.

Further to my post re: letter to Peter Dunne querying why CSA does not pass on allegations of benefit abuse to WINZ in the case of a custodial parent receiving voluntary child support payments; I have had a reply back from his office and have been advised ‘a change had been made to the Tax Administrative Act 1994 (TAA) that enables IRD to provide other Government Agencies with customer information from 31 May 2012. IRD officials can provide information within relevant parameters, to MSD where possible benefit overpayment or benefit fraud is identified’.

Based on this information received I made an official complaint to IRD/CSA citing the names and departments of staff including a Team Leader who had categorically told me it was not CSA policy to forward this information. (more…)

Judging by the list of organisations supporting this book, I doubt that it is intended as an instruction manual, so don’t get too excited. If keeping women in line was as easy as the White Ribbon hate campaign insists, I’m sure our society would be very different from the way it is!

I’ll read and review this book if I can obtain a copy for free, but I don’t think I’ll be able to bring myself to pay for it.

I have a USA Parent Skills Programme, of self paced learning available for loan. It is based primarily on negotiation and understanding and management of available incentives.

Examples of Working Accountability

NZ Parliamentarians are required to register the nature of their assets. The public may use this to investigate possible conflicts of interest. This register is also available to profit media, although they don’t make much use of it, same say it is boring! UK Register of Members Interests UK Register

USA Federal judges are required to keep an up to date register of their wider family members and assets. This is used before assigning a judge to a hearing, to avoid mistrials due to later discovering a conflict of interest.

UK and USA judges have Judicial Complaints Commissions, that proactively investigate complaints about judges. In UK 2 judges per year are fired and about 10 disciplined to some extent.

NZ Medical Practitioners are supervised under the Health and Disability Act, Resolution, protection, and learning. Complaints are fairly promptly and actively investigated. Outcomes range from no further action, to remedial training, discipline and removal of practising license.

Interesting article from Ireland.

At issue is a referendum that would redefine the role of government in helping children the government determines may be in need of assistance.

While it sounds to some like a praiseworthy goal, the analysts have doubts.

“The threshold of intervention “¦ reveals this new approach: “when the safety or welfare’ of children “is likely to be prejudicially affected’, the state can intervene,” they write, “and take various kinds of measures, from family support to compulsory adoption.”

The current standard allows government to intervene “when the parents fail.”

I was out in public last week. With my daughter. She was clinging to me as little miss’s are prone to do.
The local community constable saw us. I remember him. He looked at me kinda funny once or twice.
Why? Well my daughter was holding my hand. Occasionally threw her arm around me. Enven pronounced to me at least twice ‘I love you daddy’.
Should I be worried? When are the boys in blue coming to lock me up?

The article suggests that the use of the word ‘people’ in referring to workplace deaths and injuries may have come from you. As a representative of community group ‘The Ministry of Men’s Affairs’ I urge you to start being honest about the true gender nature of this issue.

“While your article was commendable for raising awareness of workplace risk, your use of the word ‘people’ in refering to 100 workplace deaths per year served to hide the true gender nature of the statistic. The fact is that most years 100% of those deaths are suffered by men while female deaths seldom reach even a few percent. For any problem that kills or victimizes mainly women the gender of the victims would be emphasized in any journalist’s story. Why is it then that the male gender’s contribution or suffering is routinely hidden by those same journalists? Instead, media constantly support bitter complaints from feminists portraying it as unjust that women earn on average about 12% less than men across the much safer jobs women do.”
