Political outcomes by gendered reporting

Filed under: General,White Ribbon Campaign — Downunder @ 11:57 am

Many times throughout the life of this site authors have raised concerns about media reporting, and often blatant reporting, of news written to favour women or to demonise men. After years of harping we less often see the obvious one liners like ‘the deadbeat dad’.

But there is something more sinister afoot when it comes to media engaging in the practice of gendered reporting; it is the indirect effects, rather than the obvious, that can be the most influential and damaging.

With New Zealand’s 2014 election campaign ramping up for a 20 September polling day expect to see more gendered reporting; especially with the Labour party leading the left with a domestic violence/rape culture campaign. Yes, it is unfortunate to see the political position of ‘rape culture’ surface during our election campaign and that has been fuelled by the diplomatic incident discussed in the post The Essay of Tania Billingsley.

This incident is also fuelled by what is called ‘yellow journalism’ which is the media tuned into sensationalism rather than journalism, simply because it makes more money.

TV3 reporter Paula Penfold is the latest to suffer a major lapse in judgement (more…)

Very interesting article. With some percentages that clearly shows the Labour party needs to brush up on their research skills.

The Essay of Tania Billingsley

Filed under: General — Downunder @ 2:12 pm

The Essay of Tania Billingsley is published at TV3 the source of the quote below:

This matter arose out of allegations by Billingsley against a Malaysian diplomat who fled the country under diplomatic immunity.

Regardless of the diplomatic circumstances the possibility of the alleged offender’s return was still being considered as was an application by the police for deportation.

Billingsley a self-confessed activist, weeks out from the election has chosen to use her case as a crusade for her cause. The case will likely never come to court given the trial by media that has taken place.

It is a choice this young lady may come to regret, as her choice is now the subject of legitimate debate as is her essay shown in full below. (more…)

Wanted: A new Partner ….

Like most men, I seek an intimate relationship with a woman.
Unfortunately, I am family court tainted, and seek only a woman who is fully my equal.
Equal. Similar age; similar education and qualifications; similar income; similar asset base; similar debt ratio; similar religion; similar criminal history (i.e. none); similar driving habits (i.e. rarely receives any infringements etc); similar work history and hours; similar financial contribution to all things; similar physical contribution to all household chores. [I accept doing “half’ the housework. I accept her doing “half’ the lawns and maintenance (there’s a “Tui’ ad in that somewhere)]. I accept equal input into decision making (which on the law of averages, means sometimes you get your way, sometimes you don’t. Consensus is perfect). I like a woman who is not ‘butch’, yet is willing to change a tyre.
I have a thing about the “gotta-have’ spenders. Fashion isn’t important. You do not need to spend everything on clothes. I am anti-credit; and sadly will not cohabit with a spend-on-credit woman. I have a thing about obesity; and will not accept the “larger’ models. I am not Mr Universe; and don’t expect Miss Universe either. But sorry, looks do count. And I don’t do screamers. You want a shouting match? Tell you what. I’m outta there before you finish the second one.
I do not accept shared bank accounts etc. So let’s make a deal. What’s yours is yours; what’s mine is mine. You can have and keep everything you earn. Me too. Separate accounts. Lets split all shared expenses (which includes mortgage and maintenance, and purchase of major assets), roughly 50/50.
Now I have my friends, my hobbies; I have my space, my man-cave. Any potential partner is welcome to her own friends, hobbies space, woman-cave. This is not controlling. It does not worry me at all, what she does or has. But I will not cede my “fun’.
Of course, I know my chance of securing a normal intimate relationship based on all of the above is less than zero. Welcome to reality.

The conceited Cunliffe and the ingratiating editor

Filed under: General — Downunder @ 3:59 pm

As the saying goes, a week in politics is a long time. Yes, it is less than a week since Cunliffe made his declaration of shame – apologising for being a man – and the media fisticuffs for the moral high ground is showing no sign of losing intensity, case in point this editoral from NZ Herald.

There’s been numerous articles written by various media throughout the country, and I’ve made a contribution to the debate here already however I think this particular incident will be remembered long past this election campaign, for a variety of reasons.

The moment I saw the first report of Cunliffe’s apology, my instant personal-response was … (more…)

NZ Labour – The Feminist Election Campaign

Filed under: General — Downunder @ 11:38 am

As one commenter reminded us recently, Barack Obama won his last presidential campaign by chasing the female vote.

I have made the point before that feminism is not a viable economic model, and taken to its natural conclusion there will be a point, at which it breaks the back of the federation – obviously that raises the question, who will be the last president of the United States of America?

Ask yourself this; what would an extreme feminist campaign look like and would it be easily identifiable?

There would be three key elements to look for; (more…)

Rape accused would have to prove consent under Labour plan

Filed under: Law & Courts — Lukenz @ 11:28 pm

Story here:
Rape accused would have to prove consent under Labour plan

Labours Justice spokesman Andrew Little thinks the 1% conviction rate of sex cases shows the system is broken. Rather than a trial Mr Little wants;
1. No defence council to question the victim. A judge would do it.

2. Wants the defendant to be questioned by judge instead of a trial.

The Law Society has argued strongly against inquisitorial systems in the past for obvious reasons.

You know Mr Little when you call a complainant a victim even before a trial you are already convinced the defendant is guilty.

There are already some innocent men in jail right now that have been convicted of rape. How could you possible even think of trying to make it possible for more men that may be innocent to be locked up.

Mr Little said he acknowledged the change would be a “huge leap”. I say it’s a huge leap alright, off the deep end!

Sex Contracts

Not sure what we are getting into here. But these ‘sex contracts’ seem like a awesome idea. Written consent to navigate around the ‘guilty unless proven innocent’ concept 😛

The rise of the man-child

Filed under: General — ashish @ 11:49 am

There is a growing trend of men who are beginning to realize the risks around the concept of marriage.

Feminists claim that women who do not want to marry are ’empowered’, and that marriage is an institution that gives rise to abuse. (more…)

The Politically Unrepresented Male

Filed under: General — Downunder @ 11:34 am

Those who pay attention to New Zealand parliamentary debates will be well aware that there is seldom if any male perspective offered in our debating chamber to balance the overwhelming feminist dogma that has become a visibly dominant and mostly unchallenged voice – and even when challenged – that generally concerns financial priority and affordability of legislation.

NZ Labour abandoning men

Filed under: General — Downunder @ 12:51 pm

It is interesting to follow the evolution of the New Zealand Labour Party, from its originally fractured beginnings in the early 1900s, through a long period as one of New Zealand’s two main political parties, and now its descent toward being one of the participants in our fractured left wing of politics.

Rolf Harris Assassination By Long Prison Sentence Seen As Obligation

This site has strangely been silent over the fate of Mr Harris.

Even if Rolf has taken advantage of girls under the age of consent, is 5 years and 9 months a fair and right sentence for an 86 year old man and his 20 to 50 year old historical crime?

Marriage fuels abuse

I’m too sexy to be a man

Filed under: General — Downunder @ 3:39 pm

Another MAN BAN by Labour

Another MAN BAN policy by the Labour Government. I KEEP SAYING – Labour is ANTI-MALES. Any men who supports the Labour Party is either a half-man or a faggot.

Why is there NO consideration given to any of the male victims here?

It’s a dangerous occupation drawing comparisons between people, as you run the risk of bumping into other’s preconceptions and opinions.

However, after listening to the Youtube video of Warren Farrell speaking at the 1st International Men’s Conference, held recently in Detroit Michigan, I dare to take that risk.

You may recall the earlier post Rhiannon Brooker Cries Rape (April 2014) reveiling the shocking details surrounding the case of a English man, in which his partner, a trainee barrister, falsely accused him of rape and assault.

One of the most disturbing aspects of this case was the extroidinary circumstances surrounding the police investigation, that saw Paul Fensome (Brooker’s partner) held in custody for five weeks, while Police investigated her allegations.

International Men’s Conference – still on track

Filed under: General — Downunder @ 12:56 pm

AVFM_MC

The first international men’s conference, to be held in Detroit this weekend shrugs off the recent threats of violence that forced a change in venue.

The evolving story of the feminist backlash against men who dared to confer without consent was discused in an earlier post Feminist Extremists attack Men’s Conference.

Conference organisers A Voice for Men (AVFM), remain tight lipped about any casualties from the original speakers list as a result of concerns for personal safety, however the current advertised list of speakers looks set to herald a new error in awareness of men’s issues onto the international political stage, addressing a variety of issues such as circumcism and paternity fraud, and the need for political activism, along with the more familiar topics surrounding Family Courts.

AVFM’s Media Director, Janet Bloomfield, has been working overtime to have live feeds available from the confernce via You Tube to reach a growing international audience that is becoming more aware of the urgent need to address the range of men’s issues causing increasing conern to the well being of the Western World.

Bloomfield will also be operating a twitter feed, tweeting relevant updates, through @icmi14 …

We invite listeners/viewers to tweet questions for the speakers during their talks, and we will endeavour to have one or two asked on the floor.

The costs of this conference must be substantial. For anyone wishing to offer financial assistance to AVFM, there are a range of donation options here.

Labour’s List Made on the Basis of People’s Genitals

Filed under: General — Ministry of Men's Affairs @ 11:20 pm

The Labour Party has put into practice its ‘Man Ban’ policy even though Cunliffe previously made a show of rejecting it. Their list published yesterday was based on candidates’ genitals rather than merit in an effort to ensure a 45% female quota in their next caucus. By basing candidate selection on genitals and favouring vaginas over penises to any extent, Labour is discriminating against men to that same extent.

The party’s name has long been a falsehood because it’s a long time since they represented workers in NZ. The party has also long been known as a male-bashing party. Labour has now sunk to new depths in its abandonment of true gender equality by reducing the human rights it accords male candidate hopefuls. Anyone who recognizes the importance and value of men will hope that the polls are accurate in predicting another major reduction in Labour’s voter support. Unfortunately, there is no sign of any male-friendly party for male-respecting voters to turn to.
